Because OAT handles only small groups, those groups can stay in more authentic accommodations than larger tour groups. Each lodge or tented camp conveyed a sense of East African culture. In all we stayed in seven different locations, usually for two nights each with the exception of the time we were in the Serengeti. We stayed in the following places:
Intercontinental Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya (2 nights)
Naivasha Simba Lodge, Lake Naivasha, Kenya (2 nights)
Sentrim Amboseli, Amboseli National Park, Kenya (2 nights)
Lake Burunge Tanganyika Widerness Camps, Arusha, Tanzania (2 nights)
The Farm House, Arusha, Tanzania (2 nights)
Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge, Arusha Tanzania (2 nights)
Mbalangeti Lodge, Serengeti, Tanzania (4 nights)
Actually the pacing of this trip was quite demanding. As I said earlier, we stayed in most locations for two nights. We had one night in Nairobi at the beginning of our trip. Then we headed out into wild Africa and stayed two nights in the Lake Naivasha area and two nights outside Amboseli National Park (in the foothills of Kilimanjaro); both in Kenya. Then we moved to Tanzania where spent two nights at Lake Burunge, two nights near the rim of the Ngorongoro Highlands, two nights on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, and four nights in the Serengeti National Park. The accomodations offered us some of the most remote, pristine, and authentic experiences of the bush available in East Africa. We then spent one final night and day in Nairobi before leaving Africa to head back to the US.
Here are some pictures of the lodges and tented camps where we stayed:
